What do you want to be? What do your kids want to be? How do childhood experiences affect your career?
All I ever wanted to be was a Mother. A Stay at Home, Milk and cookies making, PTA President, Class Mom - Mother. Maybe because my Mother wasn’t able to be that when I was a child, and I so wanted her to be. I was nearly not able to do it, I was wrapped up in the let’s make money and give the kdis all the STUFF they want game, then I got and beat cancer, twice. The whole world became crystal clear at that point for me, and I quit my job, successfully had another baby and beat cancer. Then I settled down to Momydom and all the glory it meant to me. I am a NEVER HOME stay-at-home-Mom, fatigued more than I have even been in my LIFE, and enjoying each single second of it.
It’s not the right choice for everyone, but it was the right choice for us, and I am so happy with the ‘job” I’ve!
Celebrate Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day on April 24!

I write the occasional for the local newspaper, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, so I tend to read the paper. This day there was another letter about job discrimination against those over 45. It’s real it happens all the time. I’ve a neighbor who is a head hunter and he told me outright that employers tell him never to send a resume of someone older than 45. It’s against the law, but very difficult to prove.
That leads me to a question. If you and I’ve a good opportunity to live to be over 100, what are we going to do about it? There are only so many jobs as WalMart greeters.
If you are just going to complain about age discrimination, I’ve little sympathy. If you’re going back to school to learn new skills then I feel superior about you.
I would be interested in hearing about your personal age discrimination situation. What did you face? How did you tackle the situation? What have been the results?

Curt Schilling’s grand home in Medfield, Massachusetts is one breathtaking property. With almost twenty-six acres on the lot and 11,000 square feet of house built in 1998 this estate is stunning. The expansive lot includes a pool, batting cage (of course!), and a triple-purpose court for tennis, basketball or ice-skating. Inside you’ll find a library, game room, movie theater, a three-story spiral staircase and a 4,000+ square foot finished, walk-out basement. Although marketed as a single-family colonial, I would say a number of families would fit comfortably here — way more than just a mother-in-law’s quarters. There are seven bedrooms, six full and two half baths not to mention a gourmet kitchen and eight-car garage. Whew! For $8 million does it come with a live-in maid?

Image details: Daffodils served by picapp.com” alt=”” border=”” hspace=”” vspace=”” width=”” height=”” align=”left” />Those of us in Iowa, and elsewhere in the Midwest, have had a long, cold, snowy winter. I feel like I am just coming out of hibernation. I got my automobile washed, got the winter grime off, and I went to work for the first time in months without a coat. The first spring flowers are starting to bloom, but most of the trees still have no leaves, not even buds - about 3 weeks later than usual. But at least it’s here.
I think we’ve all been depressed, and I wonder how the pioneers ever survived. Now I’m ready to start plan
ning my gardening projects and thinking about cleaning off the porch. If I tell you in a couple of months how much I hate the hot summer, remind me about the winter we just had.
Do you’ve spring fever? Do you feel like you just got out of hibernation?
