Here’s foreclosure? That’s what Ed McMahon, the man famous for being Johnny Carson’s sidekick on “The Tonight Show” and hosting “Star Search” might be saying soon. McMahon, who is 85, has been trying to sell his Beverly Hills home since 2006 when we first saw it listed for $7.699 million. He fell $644,000 behind on payments on $4.8 million in mortgage loans and a unit of Countrywide Financial Corp. filed a default notice Feb. 28 with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office. His spokesman said that McMahon broke his neck 18 months ago and has been unable to work since then. McMahon has been working with the lender to try and resolve the situation but it is uncertain if he and his wife will be able to stay in the home which is located in the celeb-friendly community known as The Summit. Real estate agent Alex Davis has the listing (pictures are shown below) which now sits at $6.25 million.

Today’s home is classic Bel Air. This ritzy area of Los Angeles is home to monster homes on their own private hills offering views of the city below. The last time we were in Bel Air, it was to check out a $40 million home. Today’s place will cost you a bit less money but is in the same echelon. This fabulous home has been renovated to luxury hotel standards and offers six bedrooms including an expansive master suite and a separate children wing. This home is suited for a titan of industry with its two-story library, plush home theater and big dining and living rooms for pleasing. The property includes a pool and spa, tennis and gym facilities and a not-a-blade-out-of-place lush green yard. This home is listed for $24.995 million and was recently offered for rent for the astronomical price of $100,000 per month (which is actually less than the estimated mortgage payment would be).

My goal for the month of June is to give you lots of things to think about. What are you doing to improve the quality of your life during the second half?

In other words, if “60 is the new 40,” then 50 must be the new 30.  If you were born in 1960, for example, your average life expectancy is

69.7 years for both sexes, 66.6 years for men, and 73.1 years for women.  And what are you waiting for?

This day, I’m starting a series: 50 things to do at 50-something.  I hope it will encourage you to think out of the box and get going on the life you want.  Also, stay tuned for a “50-something ideas” contest, to be announced later this week.

50 Things To Do t 50-something:

1.  Begin a business
2.  Take a walk each day
3.  Buy a dog or cat
4.  Take the dog along on your walk
5.  Learn to cook a new kind of food
6.  Learn a new language (or re-learn that one you learned in high school…yes, even Latin)
7.  Subscribe to a hobby magazine
8.  Tell someone you love them  or appreciate them.  Each day.
9.  Pick up pennies.  You know, the ones you find in pockets, on the ground.  You’d be surprised how fast they add up.
10.  Organize your desk, and keep it organized.  Nah - forget that one.  I really believe that life is too short to organize too much.
10.  Go to the office supply store and find something fun to use that costs less then $5.

Whew! That’s enough for this day.  More tomorrow….

Whether you refer to them as Millennials  or Gen Y,  they are undoubtedly making big changes in how the workplace, and work itself, is perceived.  As a member of Generation Y myself, I can’t help but pay attention to what we’re doing collectively and individually.  Here’s a list of some articles that I found  thought provoking, interesting, and some of them even insulting:

This is the first of a series of comics for Pimp Your Work.

While I review several productivity tools and discuss several methods here at Pimp Your Work, I don’t mean that you use them all.  Pick the best tools that suit your working style, and keep the number of tools you use to a minimum.  Otherwise, the tools that were designed to help you end up consuming too much of your time and energy.  When I first got into productivity, that was the mistake I made.

Also, it doesn’t meant that if a tool is right for you now, you have to use it forever.  When I had trouble figuring out where my time went and what my major time sinks were (you know, those things that needlessly consume your time), I used Rescue Time.  I stopped using it last week because I got my time sinks under control.

Now, I just use Google Calendar and  To Do List (for monthly record of work).

What tools do you use?  Did you encounter the problem of using too many tools?
