The flooding in Vinton, Iowa has really hit home (literally) for me. My husband and I lived there until two years ago, in a beautiful Victorian. The town has been hit with disastrous flooding this week, and the whole town is without power.
The white building on the bottom right is our favorite Chinese restaurant. No “Happy Family” being cooked tonight. That’s the beautiful county courthouse in the middle - kind of reminds me of the courthouse in Back to the Future. We’re living in Cedar Rapids now, which is also being hit hard by flooding. Most of the downtown is under water; Governer Chet Culver called this a “500-year flood.” Wow!
If you want to donate to help the people affected by the tornados and storms and flooding in Iowa and elsewhere around the Midwest, I’d recommend donating to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
